The Top 10 Ways to Market your Business or Professional Practice Without Networking

By Philip E. Humbert While focused, strategic networking is usually the most efficient way to build your professional practice, there are many other ways to market your business. Personal networking may not be appropriate in some areas, or for certain types of services, and some people simply don’t like to do it. The following are the Top 10 methods my clients have used to increase sales and grow their practices without networking: 1. Newsletters. There are many inexpensive ways to distribute your newsletter, from buying a “packaged” service, to photocopying and mailing, to use of Internet technology. Newsletters keep your name in front of potential clients, and let you share the information you feel is important in a timely way. Remember to publish frequently, and be dependable over the long term. 2. Writing articles and columns. Every organization has a newsletter, and there are many newspapers and journals that need material on personal growth, health, wellness, communication, relationships and every other aspect of human life. If you enjoy writing, editors are eager for your material, and writing a column brings instant credibility and positive exposure. 3. Have a Website. Increasingly, customers are expecting to find information about professional services on the Internet. A clean, professional website may cost less than $1000 and work for you 24-hours a day, everyday. 4. Teach classes. Community colleges, city parks and recreation departments, churches and many other organizations are looking for instructors to teach classes. Often they will do the marketing and provide all your support services, and even pay you! Teaching is a great way to become known and give the community a taste of your expertise! 5. Volunteer. Whatever your specialty, organizations need your time, your skills and your help. You can volunteer to sit on Boards, answer phones, do their newsletter, or be a consultant – volunteering gets you known, and it can open doors for you! 6. Work with Sponsors. From insurance reimbursement for medical services to a philanthropist sponsoring an art exhibit, anytime someone else is paying the bill, you can expand your services and reach more people. Employers, educational groups, non-profits, foundations and government agencies can all be sponsors. 7. Do research. By designing and conducting appropriate research you accomplish several things for your business: You become an expert, you attract people who are interested in your research, you attract volunteers who want to participate, and when you publish the results you gain credibility and again attract attention as an expert. 8. Groups and Alliances. By combining your skills with a group of other professionals, all of you gain exposure, there are appropriate referrals to others within the group, and over-head costs can be reduced. Often groups are profitable simply by being able to share the cost of renting a large, visible office in a prime location. 9. Bid for Contract Services. Government agencies, corporations and non-profits all contract for services. These are usually announced in local newspapers, and are called an “RFP” or Request for Proposals. One small contract can open the door to others, and keep you and your practice very busy! 10. Advertise. Using the Yellow Pages or placing an ad in the local paper or even on the radio (less traditional, but why not?) will bring you business. I place this last because my experience suggests that for most professionals it’s an expensive way to go, but it does work. Remember, placement and consistency (being seen over and over) will be important, so run your advertising for at least a year. Copyright 2003 by Philip E. Humbert. All Rights Reserved. Punk Hair Ideas: Make a Difference

By Michelle Diamond You’re different, you’re tough, you’re matchless you’re punk! You’re yourself! And you want everyone to know it. You need hair cut styles that most people don’t see in a lifetime. You need to leave your mark. You need good punk hair ideas. I will tell you about some of the most weird hair cuts I’ve seen to this day, and maybe some you see every day, but they’re all punk hair cuts nevertheless. Used by women, men, teenagers and even some children! Starting With The Mohawk. I think this is the most common of them all, but with some creative innovations it can be reinvented all from the start. Instead of dying your hair plain yellow, try painting something different. I once saw a woman with cheetah patterns on the sides of her 6″ Mohawk which made it very different from all the others. Scarlet red, electric blue or others might do the work but look for something unique. Spikes, also on the list of common punk hair cuts. But as the Mohawk, with creative ideas you can make them look as you want. My brother left the house the other day with eight or ten 7″ Spikes covered in aluminum. That was so crazy! Although it was for a Halloween party, everyone saw that hair as if they had never seen Spikes in their life. The Big Guns I have no names for these, but I will describe them as so. I saw a woman wearing this hair style. She had long straight hair, but she shaved parts of it. She had like half of her hair shaved except right over her ear; she kept that hair long but dyed yellow. The other half she had a part or her hair shaved but it was minimum and she wore her hair sideways toward the shaved part. Really crazy but the style looked good on her, perhaps because she showed confidence. This one works for short hair styles. Parts of the hair being shaved, and the parts where hair has been left, tie a little pony tail making that piece of hair to spring up in the air. Dying your hair red or blue gives it a special look. There are a lot more hair cuts for punks but I’ll talk about those on another article. Michelle Diamond has studied all her life to become a master in different hair styles. Now she wants to share her knowledge and experience with you so that you can have great hair cut styles and make this world a pretty place. Here’s 9 Bullet Proof Tips to Hiring a Wedding Reception Planning Service!

By Tracy Brittany The stress of planning a wedding can be way too much to take these days because very often a small wedding is never enough. You want that big beautiful wedding youve always dreamed of, so a wedding reception planning service may just very well be the way to go for you. Here then are 9 Bullet Proof Tips to hiring a wedding reception planning service Tip #1: Be sure to hire a qualified and capable wedding planner who understands your needs and expectations This may sound obvious but what often happens is the wedding planner or service begins to take over and your plans get thrown out the window. Be careful of this! One good way that a friend told me to be sure is to tell your spouse to be these plans in detail, this way it will be 2 on 1 and youll have less of a chance of a takeover. With newfound popularity, probably due to the internet and quick money enticements comes a slew of wedding consultants who are new to the business or not qualified to plan a wedding, so Tip #2: Choose a wedding planner who has the experience and resources necessary to plan your wedding so that it meets and exceeds all of your expectations. After all, this is YOUR day, the one youve been dreaming of for years and years. Tip #3: If you are not comfortable with your wedding planner you are likely to not communicate with them as well as you should Tip #4: Leaving out details or are not completely honest with your wedding planner will probably result in a series of decisions being made that do not meet your standards or expectations. This kind of goes with number one. Share these details with your wedding reception planning service and make sure to exude the emotions of what you want and how much you want it. Tip #5: Review their resume and references Carefully check the wedding planners references to shed some light on their abilities. Youll want to contact each reference that is supplied to you and ask them pertinent questions about the wedding planners attitude, professionalism and punctuality. Basically anything that is important to you Tip #6: Unless youre doing someone you know a huge favor, (dont do it!) youre taking a huge chance if you opt for a wedding planner with little or no experience. Yes I know that everyone needs someone to give them a chance, but its not going to be you. Let your cousin you hate give that person a chance. Tip #7: Take time to decide if your wedding reception planning service are going to be full or part-time consultants to you. If you plan to have an elaborate wedding, consider opting for a full time wedding planner. This is to ensure that the wedding planner has the time to devote to planning your wedding. Tip #8: Be sure that your wedding reception planner has a contingency plan in case they are unable to assist you in planning your wedding reception. You dont want to be left standing naked in the crowd (I almost mean that literally) when your wedding planner doesnt show up. Hire a wedding planner who belongs to a reputable company. This frequently affords you the magnificence of having a full staff at your disposal. Unexpected things are going to happen, therefore you should. Tip #9: Know how the wedding planner would react in certain situations. You can do this by presenting him/her with instances that might happen during the wedding reception and asking them how they would deal with it. You certainly want someone who can make decisions on the go. So, in a nutshell, your wedding planner will be responsible for the happiness of your guests at your wedding so it is important to choose a qualified candidate. A few things to consider before choosing a wedding planner are how comfortable you feel with them, their past references, the amount of time that they have to devote to your wedding and how they react in a sticky situation. All of these factors will help to ensure that you choose a qualified wedding reception planning service who can meet all of your needs. When planning a wedding cost is a huge factor. I want to give you a free email course that could help save you up to $10,000. Definitely a “Must Read!” If you’re a “bride on a budget” =>Click Here! Vitamins and Hair Growth

By Kent Pinkerton Men and women the world over have long sought out ways to make their hair grow faster, thicker, and healthier. With the onset of so many quick grow formulas and hair vitamins, it now seems to be possible to grow your hair quicker. But do they really work? How does hair grow? Hair grows as the hair root, which is embedded in your scalp, produces hair cells. These cells, all locked in the chamber of the root, are eventually pushed out of the scalp. At this point, the hair cells die and a strand of hair is formed. This process continues until the root shuts down production of new hair cells, causing the strand it had produced to fall out. This cycle repeats itself so new hair replaces old hair continuously. Many different factors affect the rate of growth of your hair. Asians, for example, have hair that grows the quickest at the rate of about 1.3 cm a month. Gender, age, and genetics also determine how quickly one’s hair can grow. Vitamins for hair growth Hair is made up of 80 percent protein, so it follows that vitamins with a high concentration of B vitamins and protein will make hair grow quickly. Make sure that the hair vitamin product you buy has B complex, folic acid, and inositol in it. Folic acid speeds up production of new cells and this is extremely important for quick hair growth. Inositol, on the other hand, strengthens the cell membranes and prevents hair from falling out. However, hair vitamins are not enough to ensure fast hair growth. Having clean hair is a must. The pores through which the hair grows must remain clean and free of blockage. Hair growth treatments usually come with a shampoo because a clean scalp makes the product work better. Hair Vitamins provides detailed information on Hair Vitamins, Vitamin For Hair Loss, Female Hair Loss Vitamin, Vitamin For Healthy Hair and more. Hair Vitamins is affiliated with Hair Styles. How to Maintain a Steady Cash Flow?

By Ray Smith For any business to be successful the most important factor is availability of ready cash and maintenance of a healthy cash flow. However, during day-to-day operation of business it is often found to be the most difficult task and every year a big percentage of the small businesses close down for lack of ready cash. Here are some tips that are really effective for small businesses to maintain a steady cash flow. 1)Incentivize Payment: If you are into one of those businesses where the clients tend to defer payments, try to introduce an incentive scheme for immediate payments. If customers would pay at the time of purchase you would not need to worry about collecting receivables and the cash flow will also be maintained at its best. 2)Credit from Vendors: Try to negotiate terms with your vendors and suppliers to get an extended credit period so that you dont need to pay promptly for your purchases. This will delay the outflow of cash from your accounts and less money will be trapped in your inventory. There are suppliers who would even offer a 60-day credit period and with such an extended period to pay you will hopefully have your receivables collected from your customers and use that to pay the vendors. This way you will not have to shell out your own cash or spend very little yet maintain proper supply of your raw materials. 3)Account Receivable Factoring: Factoring of accounts receivables is a very popular and affective way to maintain a healthy cash flow. Businesses that have long gestation period before the receivables could be converted to cash can always factor their receivables to get ready cash as per their requirements. It is particularly easy to factor your invoices if you are dealing with big companies or government agencies because the factors are more willing to take risk with invoices due from large corporations than with small businesses. 4)Ask for Advance: If you are in a business where you provide custom made goods to your customers as per their orders you can always ask them for an advance at the time of starting the project. This would reduce the risk of nonpayment as a part of the payment is already realized. Also, a healthy cash flow can be maintained very easily if you can negotiate a term of periodic payment with the customer, so that the customer pays you in parts as you progress with the project. 5)Savings Fund: Most businesses go through seasonal changes in sales volume, sometimes its good and sometimes it is slow. It is a very good practice to keep away a certain percentage of the total revenue in the savings fund that helps to operate and run the business smoothly during hard times. All of these tips might not be applicable for your business, however, most of them are and with some effort and strict control on your business practices for few months you can get these things incorporated into your business policy. Once you have done that, you have won half the battle, because these principles are sure to increase and enhance your cash flow thereby helping your business to grow. So if you are still concerned about availability of cash, start working today and it wont be long when your business will have a healthy cash flow. Music to Your Eyes: Diamond and Sapphire Engagement Rings

By Taylor Henry Sonny and Cher, Fred and Ginger, chocolate and peanut butter…some things are just meant to go together. And diamonds and sapphires are no exception. With so many choices, a diamond and sapphire engagement and wedding ring set can go down in your personal history with as much romance and excitement as Antony and Cleopatra…with a much happier ending, of course! No need for the blues, with sapphires you can branch out into a variety of melodies. While sapphires are usually associated with the deep blue only a sapphire can exude, sapphires cover a large portion of the rainbow from purples to reds to oranges and yellows. Imagine the glitz and glitter of a brilliant white diamond surrounded by a sparkling ruby sapphire…there’s something you’ll enjoy looking at for years to come! And if you love the idea of a colored diamond, such as a pink or yellow, you can find the perfect complimentary sapphire to create an elegant sunset on your finger. On the bright side, if the cost of a colored diamond is too much to consider (at least for now–always keep your options open!), consider a colored sapphire instead. The main attraction could be the yellow or pink sapphire, supported by a brilliant chorus of smaller diamonds, and no one would know the difference unless you chose to reveal your brilliant secret! Or consider this–if your heart’s desire is a pink or yellow diamond, but you’re not dating a movie star (for which you may want to thank your lucky stars), you can create the “look” without the price tag. Set a smaller yellow or pink diamond in the center and surround it with the same color of sapphires. This creates the stunning yellow or pink glow you’ve got your heart set on, but significantly lowers the cost. You can have that ‘two million’ look without emptying your bank account (or putting yourself in debt that will last as long as the marriage). Sapphires are pretty study rocks, too–only second in hardness to diamonds, which means you can mix ‘em up as much as you want and be confident that your ring will last for years to come, just like your favorite classic tune that never goes out of style. Need another reason to consider the diamond/sapphire duet? The rocks are gorgeous and can be put in any kind of setting you prefer and still look great. Whether you like to dance to the beat of your own drummer or prefer the classic sounds of Mozart, you can combine your diamond and sapphire choices in a way that will make your heart sing for years to come. How To Cope With The Side Effects Of Depression Medications

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joe_Stevens] Joe Stevens Depression has become a common illness today with millions of people now coming forward and admitting that they either suffer from it now or have had bouts in the past. This includes many celebrities like NFL hall of fame quarterback, Terry Bradshaw, actress, Linda Hamilton, of “Beauty And The Beast” and “The Terminator” fame and, most recently, Massachusetts State Senator, Bob Antonioni, among many others. Many people, particularly men, were discouraged about coming forward with their illness in the past because they were afraid that it made them appear “weak” or “less of a person”. There are also many people that have come forward in the past that stopped taking their medications because of the side effects that it caused. This is NOT a good idea and can be very dangerous with certain types of medicines, but it does happen, none the less. Many medications taken for depression come with a lot of inconvenience. Granted, the illness is terrible for the person going through it, in some cases almost unbearable and something must be done to help. Pointing out the discomfort and consequences of the side effects of medications before you begin taking them will allow you to discuss alternatives with your doctor and possibly explore other types of meds or treatments that could work for you instead. Ironically, there are even some side effects of antidepressants that actually cause similar symptoms of what people would see a doctor for, for certain types of depression. There are several different types of medications for people with depressive disorders and there are also different medications given for most different types of depression so this list is very generic, but it will give you a general idea of some types of side effects that you may possibly experience while taking antidepressant medications. Nausea, Insomnia, Anxiety, Decreased sex drive or (for males) the inability to achieve and/or maintain an erection, dizziness, Weight loss or weight gain, tremors, fatigue, dry mouth, headaches, excessive sweating, drowsiness and diarrhea or constipation. This list is not “all” of the potential side effects of antidepressants and you shouldn’t be discouraged from taking them if your doctor prescribes them for you. This is only to make you aware of what you “could” possibly be facing, once you begin taking them. Your doctor will take these into account if you begin to have problems, but, once again, the objective here is to discuss these with your doctor before you begin taking them. This way you can be better prepared to deal with them and there are no surprises. Depression is a difficult illness to cope with and it only makes sense to try to make things as simple as possible when trying to treat it. Make certain to discuss every option available with your doctor. Also, make certain to discuss any “special” considerations that you may have that could make a difference while taking these meds. These can be things like operating equipment at work, driving, watching your children alone, using hand tools that could be potentially hazardous or other issues such as drug and/or alcohol use. Dating Advice for Women: Give the Good Guys a Chance

By Ronnie Ann Ryan Women often grumble about the inventory of single men saying, “There are no good men available.” Well new evidence is in and its quite the contrary. I spoke with eight single men in their 40s who are members of a local dating service. What an eye opener! We spent an hour together discussing their surprising dating experiences. Hold onto your hats ladies because this is a shocker! Who Are these Good Guys? The group varied, but were all very datable. Highlights include: Career: teacher, electrician, IT consultant, insurance underwriter, mechanic. Looks: 5’7″ to over 6 feet; athletic to huggable; dark brown or salt and pepper hair to balding. Education: two masters degrees to trade school. Interests: cooking, biking, dancing, hiking, movies. Seems like a bunch of regular guys. Men Do Want Honesty and Monogamy Overall, the men expressed a sincere desire to find a loving relationship. Monogamy is a must and honesty is a primary concern. Most want a partner who is close in age (plus or minus 5 years.) Surprised? These men want exactly the same thing that most women want. So whats the problem? Heres what the guys had to say about dating: Women Won’t Give Men a Chance The number one biggest issue men have with women today is that the fairer sex just wont give them a chance. More often than not, the ladies they select from the dating service either say no without as much as a phone conversation or dont respond to the request at all. As a result, the men feel bewildered, baffled, and very frustrated by this high level of rejection and dont understand why women paid good money for a service they dont take full advantage of. Men feel women’s unwillingness to connect is because they are simply too picky and looking for a level of perfection thats unrealistic. The fellows worry that they’re too short, not fit enough, losing hair, don’t have a status job, the right education, or make enough money. Hmmm, could they be right? Look Past Looks What fascinated me most is that the men complain about the very same thing that women complain about men! Women whine that men select or reject them based on looks alone rather than taking the time to get to know them. The truth is that selecting a potential partner based solely on physical attraction represents a trap to which both sexes often succumb. This is why most matchmakers don’t use pictures with clients, insisting instead that they meet in person. Attraction is important to a good relationship, but is perfection necessary? Missing the Boat on the Good Guys All of this begs the question: What is the cost of turning men away based on superficial qualities? Seems like it might be pretty steep. Could be a lot of women are missing the boat on the “Good Guys” because they won’t even put a toe in the water to meet them. It’s certainly something to think about. Of course, you must find a man attractive, but how important should looks be and how much job status is required? Expand Your Datable Criteria When you think about the qualities you want in a partner, what comes first; fitness or a warm heart? A high-powered career or good communication skills? Education or honesty? In this day and age, when women are fiercely independent and self-sufficient, do you really need his financial status or emotional support and friendship? Expanding your datable criteria opens the door for so many more possibilities. Before you dismiss a man because of his physique, hairline, or job, try stretching yourself to discover what’s inside. Could he be worth a glass of wine, some light conversation, and 90 minutes of your time? The bottom line on dating in the 21st century is there really are lots of good men available. If you’re looking for a loving partner, ease up on stringent standards and let a few more prospects pass inspection. Give the next guy who approaches you a chance. Say “Yes” to a man who may not be ideal, but could be a wonderful partner just the same. You have little to lose, but the upside could be finding the love you’ve been seeking all along. Social Skills and Friendship: What Are the Signs of a True Friend?

By Ellen Mossman-Glazer The best kinds of people to have around you are the caring kind. They are what we think of as ‘true’ friends. Getting to know whos who can be most interesting and sometimes most challenging. This advice is universal. It fits for anyone of any age when making decisions about who to bring into your life and heart as a friend. However, these tips are stated in a way that will be especially helpful for tweens and teens as well as for kids and adults with ADHD, Autism or Asperger Syndrome. These tips will be useful for those who have a difficult time picking up the cues and clues that give them the Go! or the No! when it comes to friendship. Here are eight tips to guide you to recognize a true friend: 1. Do you feel your friend cares about what you have to say? A real friend pays attention while you are talking and asks questions if he or she does not fully understand your situations or feeling before giving advice about it. 2.True friends are interested in what is good for you not for what you can give to them or do for them. A true friend would advise you to do only what is safe, smart and helpful to you. It helps sometimes to see if other people you like and respect also like your new friend. 3. Do you ever feel pressure to do something you dont want to do? If you feel this way, it is your true friends who can help you sort out how to be yourself, do the right thing and still be a part of the crowd. 4. If you make a mistake, a true friend helps you feel better. A true friend does not make you feel dumb, gossip to others or criticize you. 5. A true friend gives you space and privacy if you want it. You dont have to explain or wonder if your friend will be upset if you prefer to do something your own way, on your own time. 6. When you have problem, a true friend encourages you to find people you trust to help you take the right steps to solve it. to tell you to talk to an adult or with the right experience. 7. True friends understand how much you can do. If your parents dont permit you to go out on school nights, a true friend will stick by you when you can be together. 8. A true friend lets you have other friends. You dont have to worry about a true friend getting upset if you spend time with someone else. There are so many different ways youcan spend time with people. You might have a certain friend who loves to play basketball with you and other friends who are your movie or concert friends. This does not mean dropping your friend for something else. Real friends have mutual respect and make room for each other to do what they want. This guide is also a good way to evaluate how good a friend you are to others! Ellen Mossman-Glazer M.Ed. is a Life Skills Coach and Behavioral Specialist, specializing in Asperger Syndrome, High Functioning Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. Wedding Minister – Got Faith?

By Paul Davis Surprisingly when we approached my fiancee’s Pastor of four years to marry us he showed us how little faith he had in the institution of marriage. All he gave us was an hour long statistical breakdown of marital failures, familial mishaps, propensities and probabilities. Though he is a minister, the Pastor never mentioned God in the equation. There was never a single Scripture given from the Bible nor an encouraging word about marriage. Another shocking thing was he said to my fiancee, his church member of four years, “I hardly know you.” Well, who’s fault is that? Certainly not my fiancee’s. She attends church regularly, works as a greeter when people enter the doors and pays her tithes. I was blown away to hear such a remark. Nevertheless this Pastor didn’t hesitate to interview us regarding our family backgrounds and make mention of the statistical probability for difficulty based on the fact that both of us come from divorced parents. Such is the problem with modern day ministers. They are long on diagnosis and short on cure. I could have unearthed such statistics anywhere. We approached the Pastor thinking he would be a man of faith. He was nothing of the sort. Maybe his own marital struggles and woes got the best of him. Nevertheless a man of the clothe who represents the God of heaven should not be propagating fear. I thank God for the reality check to sober us up and make sure we are well beyond the infatuation stage. However where does God fit in the equation? You’d think the Pastor would be thrilled that his church member was marrying a minister. I even have the same last name as the Pastor. Father fear as I will now call him was fixated on the negatives and never accentuated the positives of marriage. As the interview drew to a close father fear made mention of “certain things” you discover about a person over time. I boldly and directly asked father fear, “What certain things are you talking about? You sound a bit vague. Please be specific.” Father fear said he’d email us a list because he had to go. Father fear never emailed me a list as promised but instead emailed my fiancee and that at her old former address. I wonder what father fear was really be motivated by? It certainly wasn’t the God of faith in heaven. Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). God doesn’t give a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2Timothy 1:7). I saw plenty of fear in this Pastor and very little faith that works by love (Galatians 5:6). Thankfully God gave us the “sound mind” to happily move on and find another minister to perform our wedding ceremony. God beautifully orchestrated me meeting her at the Smart Marriages conference where we both we attending PAIRS training. She just so happened to be sitting at my table, not to mention she lives in the same city in Canada where my fiancee was born and near the wedding venue. Minister Mandi happily embraced and congratulated us about our plans to marry. She has a warm heart, loving disposition and most importantly a spirit of faith. Without a spirit of faith to rejoice in holy matrimony, what good is a minister officiating a ceremony where two souls unite in love for life? Live and let live! Set your faith to believe for the best about people and for their future. Otherwise get out of the ministry! Paul Davis is a wedding minister who officiates marriage ceremonies and vow renewals.
